New Dog Breeds

These dogs are the result of the crossing of traditional breeds and, having a very short history, have not yet been recognized as breeds by the International Cynological Federation (FCI)

Some pets are characterized by having been created centuries ago … but others only have a couple of generations under their belt. The new dog breeds that you will find in this article are more than interesting crosses. Which one do you like the most?

What new dog breeds exist

They have not yet been registered or recognized as breeds by the International Cynological Federation (FCI) … much less do they have a pedigree of several decades. These new dogs emerged recently and are a ‘mix’ between two existing breeds:

1. Bergamasco

It is a breed native to the Italian Alps that is used as a shepherd and that, by its appearance, closely resembles a Hungarian dog called the komondor. She has a curious hair similar to ‘dreadlocks’ of black, gray or brown color, which is easier to take care of than you think … You only have to bathe three times a year!

The bergamasco –photo that opens this article– is a very patient, intelligent, determined animal that is always alert; he can live for about 15 years and needs to get plenty of daily exercise. If you have children at home, this dog will get along wonderfully with them, as well as other pets.

2. Golden Husky

What can we get if we cross a Siberian husky and a golden retriever? Of course a beautiful animal! The former is characterized by its blue eyes and wolfish appearance, while the latter is considered the best pet for children due to its kindness and docility.

The golden husky has a white coat with black, brown and gray spots, light eyes and the same face as the golden ones: tender, with downward ears and a medium muzzle. Some specimens can also have completely cinnamon hair like golden ones.

3. Dalmatian sausage

It is one of the most popular new dogs of recent times, which is striking because its parents are completely opposite. Dalmatians are medium to large in size and hot dogs are the smallest.

The result of this combination was a dog with the body of a sausage – long with short legs – and a coat with spots like the Dalmatians. However, it will not have a white body with black spots, but rather brown or gray in various shades. As for his temperament, he will be playful and restless like both breeds from which he arises.

4. Pomsky

This is a more than peculiar combination, since it also begins with the cross between a large dog and a small one. The pomsky is the result of pairing a Pomeranian with a Siberian husky. It is another of the most chosen new dogs due to its size, which adapts to living in a flat without problems.

This breed looks cuddly, especially when it comes to a puppy. The coat is thick like that of the husky, and on many occasions they also have the famous blue eyes of this breed. The largest specimens can weigh 15 kilos.

5. Yorkipoo

In this case a Yorkshire was crossed with a poodle (poodle) and the result was an adorable pet that can be taken anywhere, since it is very small. The yorkipoo is more than pretty and, of course, it has already been chosen by celebrities.

Yorkipoo

This breed has thick and ‘woolly’ hair like that of the Poodle and a compact body like that of the Yorkshire Terrier. Its fur is hypoallergenic, so there will be no problem with those who are allergic. Regarding its character, the yorkipoo is very playful, intelligent and attached to its owners. He loves to stay indoors, if possible in bed or on the sofa.

There are other new dogs that have also emerged as somewhat strange crosses: the German Pei (Shar Pei and German Shepherd), the Chow Shepherd (German Shepherd and Chow Chow) and the Schorgi (Corgi and Sheltie) are some examples.
