A hero cat saves the life of a three-year-old boy after being shot

It could be said that Opie, more than a hero cat, was Daemire’s guardian angel, when he received the stray bullet that entered through the bedroom window.

The boy’s mother, AngĂ©lica Sipe, heard a noise and entered the bedroom where Daemire and the pet were resting. As his son continued to sleep soundly, Opie lay wounded and bleeding on the ground.

The bullet had entered his head. Then it exited his neck and re-entered his shoulder until it reached his armpit. Finally, the projectile stopped its journey on a pillow, inches from the boy.

Hero cat and in frank recovery

The event occurred in the United States of America; more precisely in York, Pennsylvania. Opie, living up to the phrase that cats have seven lives, survived the gunshot and is recovering at home, despite having some muscle damage.

Its owner said she was eternally grateful to Opie, since she is convinced that, if the cat had not been in the room, the child would have been shot.

Like Opie, there are other cats who have deserved a place in the media and on social networks for their heroic attitudes. We tell you other stories.

Cat saved boy from dog attack

This episode also occurred on North American soil, this time in Bakersfield, California.

The protagonist is the cat Tara, who with great courage chased away a dog that was attacking its little owner when he was riding his bicycle on the sidewalk.

The dog, which belonged to a neighbor, managed to bite the creature’s legs twice until Tara managed to scare it away.

A pussycat alerts the neighbors to help their owner

Some time ago, the story of Slinky Malinki was also known, a cat that alerted the neighbors to assist its owner, who had lost consciousness. This event took place in Lancashire, in the north-west of England.

Former nurse Janet Rawlinson, 48, had slipped into a near coma after suffering an adverse reaction to the morphine she used to relieve chronic back pain.

It was then that a normally shy animal such as  her cat began to attract the attention of neighbors Mel and Stephen, teasing the dog and tapping the window with its paw. They realized that they had not seen Rawlinson for a few days and came to his aid.

Since this incident, the cat has been more vigilant of its owner, taking care that nothing bad happens to it again. In addition, it helps in raising two kittens that Rawlinson decided to adopt.

From Russia with heat

This news tells the story of  a stray cat who saved the life of a baby who had been abandoned near a garbage container in a building in Obninsk, in western Russia.

The child, about three months old, had been left in a cardboard box that the feline, named Macha, used to sleep, who did not hesitate to protect him from the cold with her body.

The cat transmitted heat to the baby for several hours. When the boy started crying, he was found by a local neighbor.

The inhabitants of the building assure that the little one would not have survived if the cat had not taken care of him.

The anonymous stories

These and other news about animals that contribute to saving human lives transcend in the media and on social networks and cause us tenderness and admiration.

But surely there are many other anonymous and everyday stories that do not transcend but are nonetheless less important. And that, above all, they speak of the love that pets can offer us.
